你的数字工业投资是安全的吗?

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is quickly becoming a common business practice in industrial environments as an essential driver of production, efficiency and profit.

From an industry perspective, it was estimated manufacturing, utilities and transportation would be the three main verticals using the IoT in 2015 totaling an estimated 736 million connected devices, according to a Gartner report. The same report predicts that number will swell to 1.7 billion connected IoT units by 2020.

It is clear there is at least one benefit for this drastic change in industrial operations: Operational Technology (OT) is estimated to bring 95 percent of value in “the next age of productivity.”

But with the significant benefits and value of the Industrial Internet is the shadow of new threats and risks. Transmitting data and connecting networks creates a small window that provides opportunities for bad actors. Many things can motivate attacks on critical infrastructure, but typically they are rooted in an interest to disrupt operations, or put people, the environment and assets in jeopardy.

The question is, how comprehensive are you defenses? If OT cyber security is not a central part of your strategy to secure physical assets and control systems—something IT security is not designed to do—you’re not adequately protected.
